The Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the stomach, colorectum, small intestine, as well as hernias and abdominal wall disorders. The department adheres to the dual principles of standardized radical treatment for tumors and preservation of physiological function, while integrating minimally invasive techniques with the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol.

Staffed by an experienced and skilled medical team, we are committed to delivering advanced, safe, and efficient care for patients with gastrointestinal tumors, acute abdominal conditions, inflammatory bowel disease, functional bowel disorders (including refractory constipation), anorectal diseases, and abdominal wall hernias.

Our Clinical Strengths:

(1) Total Laparoscopic Radical Surgery for Gastrointestinal Tumors:
The department routinely performing total laparoscopic radical gastrectomy (including D2 lymph node dissection), laparoscopic radical resection for colorectal cancer and Natural Orifice Specimen Extraction Surgery (NOSES) - a superminimally invasive technique. As a nationally leading department, we are dedicated to achieving a superior postoperative quality of life for our patients.

(2) Minimally Invasive and PainManaged Treatment for Anorectal Diseases:
Offering a full range of surgical and minimally invasive procedures for anorectal conditions, such as Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids (PPH/STARR) and TissueSelective Therapy (TST). We implement a comprehensive perioperative pain management protocol, incorporating multimodal analgesia planning preoperatively, precise anesthesia with longacting analgesics intraoperatively, and standardized postoperative pain assessment with steppharmacotherapy to minimize discomfort.

(3) Personalized Minimally Invasive Repair of Abdominal Wall Hernias
Providing various laparoscopic hernia repair techniques (including TAPP, TEP, and IPOM), with individualized selection of mesh and surgical approach based on patientspecific factors. This strategy aims to achieve low recurrence, minimal pain, and rapid recovery.

(4) Acute Abdomen and Trauma
Specializing in the surgical management of acute abdominal conditions such as acute appendicitis, gastrointestinal perforation, mesenteric vascular embolism/thrombosis, as well as abdominal trauma (e.g., intestinal rupture) and iatrogenic injuries (e.g., postendoscopic perforation).
